Currently, the Marion School District is ranked as one of the top achieving school districts in the state of Arkansas. This public school system's seven schools are fully accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education and the North Central Accreditation Association.
In 2004, the student population of 3400 students ranks the Marion School District as the 29st largest in Arkansas. The school system has a comprehensive curriculum for grades pre-K through grade 12. It is a state leader with its increased advanced placement emphasis. The district's art and instrumental music students are consistently chosen as state and regional winners.
The district's class size efforts show Grade 1 with an average 17 students per teacher. District-wide, the pupil-teacher ratio is 17:1. The average grade school covers two grades with a typical population of 500 students. High school graduation rate is 80.9 and average ACT score is 20.5.
Post-secondary education in the form of community colleges, technical colleges and four-year institutions of higher education are within short commuting distance of the Marion School District.

Mid-South Community College
Founded in 1993, Mid-South Community College had an enrollment of more than 1,500 for the spring, 2006, semester. Degree and certificate programs include Associate of Arts, Associated of Applied Science (Business Technology and Information Systems Technology), Child Care, Computer Network Management and Maintenance, Criminal Justice and Practical Nursing. It also offers workforce development programs and community and continuing education. An adult education program offers literacy, GED preparation, adult education and workplace literacy classes. Upper-level and graduate classes are taught through a cooperative arrangement with Arkansas State University and University of Central Arkansas.
