Supersite

  • The Marion super site was a finalist in Toyota’s search for a new truck plant. It was named the finest site in the South for an automotive original equipment manufacturer in the Spring 2003 issue of Southern Business & Development.
  • The site is in the heart of North America, just 10 minutes from Memphis, Tennessee, the “Crossroads of America.”
  • Five Class 1 railroads are located within 10 miles of the site, including two with direct access. They provide single-system shipment to all 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Mexico and Canada. The Union Pacific Railroad serves the location with an impressive 600-acre intermodal terminal already on-site. Burlington Northern Santa Fe is prepared to build a spur to the site.
  • This area is the trucking capital of North America; more metro markets – 152 – can be reached overnight from Memphis than from any other city in the nation. Interstate 40, the “backbone of America,” connects Memphis to the east and west coasts. Interstate 55 connects Memphis to Canada and New Orleans. And the planned Interstate 69 will connect Memphis to Canada and Mexico.
  • The Memphis International Airport, just 20 minutes from the site, is the world’s busiest cargo airport and FedEx’s main hub. It is also one of Northwest Airline’s three major hubs. The site is just two minutes from the West Memphis Airport, which has a 6,000-foot runway that can accommodate corporate jets.
  • The Mississippi River, the largest commercial waterway in North America, is only 10 minutes from the site, providing access to 40,000 kilometers of navigable waterways. In fact, the U.S. Customs Service considers Memphis one of the fastest growing ports in the country.
  • A culturally diverse population of 2.3 million people lives within a 100-mile radius of Memphis, an area with a workforce of 1.1 million people. Of those, 110,000 are involved in logistics. Marion and West Memphis are peaceful communities of 40,000 people.
  • More than 34 million cars, trucks, and SUVs are driven everyday in Arkansas and the six surrounding states. Consumers in this seven-state region purchased more than 2.8 million new vehicles last year.
  • Arkansas has secured access to 1,265 acres from one owner. The area is located within a total of 5,000 acres, designated solely for industrial growth. The land is flat and easy to build on, it is above the 100-year flood plain, and all utilities are in place.
  • Thirteen colleges in a 50-mile radius provide customized workforce training.
  • Arkansas is a right-to-work state and has the necessary tax incentives and infrastructure to be highly competitive for any mega-project.
